Calling it quits.

This blog has run its course and it's time to move on. I'm toying with the idea of starting a new blog that fits who I am now. Stay tuned for the next more. More to come soon. Thanks to all who have read my blog and participated. It's time for me to make a new start.

December 26

On December 26, 1862 38 Dakota Indians were hanged in Mankato, the largest mass execution in U.S. History. In 2012 a memorial was dedicated in Mankato, Minnesota’s Reconciliation Park near a white limestone buffalo that marks the spot where 38 Dakota men were hanged the day after Christmas 153 years ago. We must not forget what happened. http://indiancountrytodaymedianetwork.com/2012/12/26/minnesota-works-forgiving-not-forgetting-its-native-history-146502

"12 Hangover Cures From Famous Heavy Drinkers"

"Three Hemingway hangover cures have made the rounds, two of which involve … more liquor! The Sun Also Rises novelist is saidto have relied on the stomach-turning combination of tomato juice and beer. We’re more apt to believe the other recipes since one involves a big weakness of the author’s — absinthe — and the manly libation, gin."

Happy Winter Solstice!

Happy Winter Solstice and happy Yule! We made it to the shortest day of the year and the longest night of the year. In the Northern Hemisphere we celebrate the return of the sun, heat, and light. For Wiccans this is the first sabbat (holiday) of the year. Winter solstice is a time of reflection and thinking about the year ahead.

A Nordic Yule blessing

Beneath the tree of light and life,

a blessing at this season of Jul!
To all that sit at my hearth,
today we are brothers, we are family,
and I drink to your health!

Today we do not fight,

We bear no one ill will.
Today is a day to offer hospitality
to all that cross my threshold
in the name of the season.
